KAC coach Furey satisfied: “Florian Vorauer was the basis for the away win”

The EC-KAC achieved a hard-fought victory in the away game in Fehérvár. Without keeper Sebastian Dahm, the Carinthians were able to achieve a narrow 2-1 victory after a penalty shootout.

Head coach Kirk Furey was satisfied after the game, but also self-critical:

“That was a difficult away game, especially because of the size of the North American pitch, which is rather unusual for us. Things just happen a little faster here, the spaces are narrower, the duels are more intense. Nevertheless, we solved the task well for long stretches.

We were a little unlucky when we conceded a goal with a missed window – things like that can happen quickly in this hall. Overall, we had a lot of puck possession, but we gave Fehérvár too many opportunities in transition. There were a few too many turnovers that we have to work on.

A big compliment goes to our goalie Florian Vorauer – he was outstanding today and kept us in the game with some important saves. His performance was clearly the basis for this away win.

The good news is: We’re always finding ways to win games – even in situations that aren’t easy. This shows that our team has character and is ready to fight for every point.”
