Three unanswered goals in the second half of the game enabled the EC-KAC to win 4-2 at home against Vienna in front of over 4,000 fans on Friday evening, which helped the Red Jackets move up to third place in the table.
After the game, head coach Kirk Furey was very satisfied with the KAC’s eleventh consecutive season-long win against the Capitals: “Our start was very good, there was a lot of speed, which gave us a high percentage of puck possession in the first third. The penalty at the transition to the second period brought the momentum to the Capitals, but overall we showed a good reaction to the second goal against the 1:2 deficit. We then generated a lot of pressure and also had good legs. In the last half we were strong defensively, But we would have liked to have put a little more offense on the ice and scored one or two goals. The positive thing is that we scored three important points again and we are now looking forward to a very exciting and emotional game against Salzburg on Sunday.
The Red Jackets’ next home game against Red Bull Salzburg continues on Sunday.
