KAC coach Furey after the derby win: “It certainly wasn’t a perfect performance from us”

With a lot of fighting spirit and some hard-nosedness, the red jackets – playing with a defense entirely without import players for 40 minutes – turned the 363rd Carinthian derby in Villach in their favor in the third section and won 3-2.

Post Game Comment from Head Coach Kirk Furey:

“It was very difficult for us in the first 30 minutes of the game: we couldn’t find our rhythm, Villach acted with a lot of speed and pressure. It was clear to us in the run-up to this game that EC VSV was much better than its position in the table and its last results would suggest, and they proved that. Villach had a lot of chances, Sebastian Dahm held strong for us. That was a close, close game that could have gone either way, but in the end our leading players came out “Villach was good, the derby emotions were there, but we found a way to win the game in the third period. It was certainly not a perfect performance from us, but we are very happy with the three points.”
