The Red Jackets’ winning streak came to an end on Sunday evening after six wins in a row and they had to admit defeat to Olimpija Ljubljana in the shootout in a thrilling home game.
Post game commentary from Assistant Coach David Fischer:
“That was a disappointing end to a strong game for us. Our team played hard, really hard, there was a lot of intensity, the game had playoff vibes at times. We kept the space narrow at the back, didn’t give up too many chances, but unfortunately we were too undisciplined overall and spent too much time in the penalty box. Our penalty killing was good, the units only made one mistake, but the misery in the power play continues. So far this year we have always been in overtime and shootouts enforced, today that wasn’t the case for the first time. That’s what happens in ice hockey. We have a long week ahead of us before the international break, we’ll return to the ice on Tuesday and prepare for it.
