Jaromir Jagr has announced the end of his career after 38 professional seasons. The 54-year-old Czech ice hockey icon, who currently plays for his hometown club Kladno, explained in an Instagram interview that it would probably take “a miracle” to see him on the ice again.
In the current season, Jagr has only made six appearances with one assist; he played his last game to date on December 21st. The two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Pittsburgh Penguins is one of the greatest players in NHL history: With 1,921 scorer points, he is in second place on the all-time best list, and he is also fourth in goals (766) and games played (1,733).
The eight-time All-Star and 1998-99 Hart Trophy winner played for nine NHL teams during his career, including eleven years with Pittsburgh. Since 2018 he has been on the ice again for his hometown club Kladno.
