In Carinthia you can look forward to an NHL star!

Even in summer, Carinthia remains an ice hockey stage: The “Sunshine Hockey League” starts its second edition on June 5th in the Ferlach ice rink – and promises once again a top-class cast.

Sea lions upgrade with NHL star

The Lendhafen Sea Lions in particular want to take the next step after their narrow defeat in the final last year. Led by Marco Kasper, even more NHL power is set to come onto the ice this year: another NHL striker, John-Jason Peterka, has announced his arrival, as the “Kronen Zeitung” reports. The German is currently still in action in the NHL play-offs and should provide additional quality in the summer.

Top-class field of participants

In addition to Peterka, other well-known names are also joining the league. Damian Clara, an internationally sought-after goalie, is in the Sea Lions’ squad. There are also numerous players from the ICE Hockey League. The level was already high last year: Back then, the Slovenian Rams narrowly prevailed against the Sea Lions.

More teams, higher level

The second season should increase again. A total of eight teams will fight in the basic round (June 5th to July 18th) for places in the final tournament, which will take place at the end of July in the Heidi Horten Arena. Organizer Mark Kompain promises a further increase in performance – with even more players from the ICE league and a correspondingly higher level.

One thing is clear: The “Sunshine Hockey League” is increasingly establishing itself as a summer meeting place for the local ice hockey scene.
