After the last two away games, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz will return to Linz AG Eisarena tomorrow. With the VSV you receive an opponent who was prominently strengthened in summer and is on reparation for a mixed start of the season.
Exactly a week after the goal spectacle in Vienna, the Stahlstadt residents return to their home audience. In the fourth basic game of the new season, Brian Lebler and Co. will meet VSV tomorrow. The eagles ended the basic round in sixth place in the previous year and thus secured direct moving into the playoffs. There they met the HC Bolzano, against which they had to give up 2: 4. The Villachers want to play in front again this season and strengthened with some well -known transfers. Striker Adam Helewka moved from HC Bolzano to the eagles and is supposed to ensure the goal with Nick Hutchison. The latter came from EV Landshut, where he was able to collect 33 scorer points in 28 games. The 30-year-old was under contract in Sweden and also gained experience in the AHL. On the defensive, the Villacher secured Steven Strong’s services. Born in Villacher, the archrival from Klagenfurt comes back to his homeland and is intended to ensure stability in defense. However, the VSV also had to adopt some top performers, including goalie Jean-Philippe Lamoureux. The American ended his active career and returned to his homeland.
The eagle’s squad was shown both in the Preseason and in the first matches of the regular season from different sides. In preparation, three out of six games could be won, including against Zell am See and Rosenheim. In the first four games of the new season, the team of Head Coach Tray Tuomie only won the opening game against Liganeuling Budapest. Against Laibach it set a clear 2: 7 defeat. The VSV presented itself against the reigning master, but had to admit defeat in overtime. Last Sunday, the Villacher also stayed points against the wolves from the Puster Valley in front of a home crowd.
Loose room update
Head Coach Philipp also has to do without parts of his line-up against Villach. After his hard check in the game against Vienna, Luis Lindner will not yet return to the ice. Ken Ograjensek fails for around two to three weeks due to a lower body injury. Patrick Söllinger got a puck in the face in training, luckily he is doing well, so that he can appear against the eagles. Despite the last bitter defeats in Fehérvár and Vienna, the Linz fighting spirit proved. Travis Barron booked a Gordie-Eh-Hattrick: a goal, an assist and a fight in one game. The Upper Austrians meet Villach tomorrow for an offensive team and the focus will be on a compact defense.
Seats for tomorrow’s game are already completely sold out. Standing tickets are available online at Tickets.blackwings.at and at the box office.
Voices:
Head Coach Philipp Lukas: “We have long since worked up the game against Vienna and tomorrow we have the opportunity to make it better. The most disappointing was that we didn’t find the game in the last third. We know the VSV very well, they have great offensive potential and their defenders can also be dangerous. Therefore, we have to call up a disciplined performance tomorrow.”
Julian Pusnik: “There is still a lot of work ahead of us. We have to make things better in front of the goal and get more pressure there. We have analyzed a lot of videos, saw what we did wrong and it is important to improve. Tomorrow it will certainly be a rough game, it was always great against Villach and of course I am always happy to play against you. It is a great spur. Zone come that we all know what to do. “
