Homemade striker Jonathan Oschgan had an impressive debut season in the ICEHL. Will he stay with the Black Wings Linz?
Next month Jonathan Oschgan will be 18 years old, but the man from Linz has already experienced a lot before coming of age. After many years in the Linz youth team, he made his debut this year in the ICEHL for the Black Wings Linz and scored five goals and three assists in 32 games.
In addition, after last year’s U18 World Cup participation, he was on the ice for the Austrian national team for the first time at the U20 World Cup this year and scored an impressive three goals and three assists in five games as an underager.
Immediate future probably in Linz
But what happens next? Oschgan does not yet have a professional contract and sooner or later he will take the leap abroad in order to accelerate his development as best as possible. But it looks like it will be later rather than sooner.
As the “Oberösterreichische Nachrichten” reports, the immediate future is likely to lie in Linz. Since the 17-year-old still wants to complete his high school diploma, he will probably stay in Linz for another season. He will then receive the best possible support from the people of Linz in order to make the right decision for his future.
