ICEHL: VSV access Steven Strong: “I only see blue!”

Yesterday the EC VSV started egg training and for Coach Tuomie it goes into the “finding phase”. Newcomer Steven Strong has already got used to the color change.

Sports director Herbert Hohenberger observed from the grandstand, like the Villacher Adler completed their first egg training. Right in the middle of the new additions Nick Hutchison, Adam Helewka, Luca Erne and Steven Strong. A special experience for the latter. Not only that he switched from arch -rival KAC to VSV, he is now also in the dress of that club where his father Ken Strong is considered legend.

“Red is now the opponent”

Steven Strong has already got used to and his “mindset”, as he revealed to the “Kronen Zeitung”: “I was looking forward to being able to get started here in the hall all summer: I only see blue-red is now the opponent,” said his ex-employer.

Strong not only wants to step into his father’s footsteps, but also write his own chapter at the VSV: “I would like to show my hard side in every game, I will stand up for my teammates, don’t allow anything to be defensive – and also try to get me involved,” said the routine.

Get used to the ice

For head coach Tuomie, it is currently all about “that the players get used to the ice again, also find each other.” The newcomers “have left a very good impression so far, have already integrated very well,” the head coach told the “Kleine Zeitung”.

It gets serious on the weekend when the first two test games against the Kassel Huskies and the Zeller Eisbären take place in Zell am See. “It is a good opportunity to try some line combinations”, but it is already clear before that you will see the paradel line Hughes-Hancock-Reberig together on the ice again: “We already know that it works.”

“For me, the Graz99ers are top vaforit”

Tuomie assumes an even narrower struggle for the top 6, the qualification of which is also the goal of the eagle. Who he sees the title as a favorite? “For me, the 99ers are the top favorite on the championship title, but teams like Vienna or Pustertal have certainly gained quality.”
