ICEHL: Voted “Hockey News Player of the Month for October”

As is tradition, Hockey-News is once again looking for the player of the season. Before that, however, it is important to choose the respective players of the month, which will be determined by fan voting. In the second monthly voting we are looking for the player of the month for October.

Six players are nominated each month by the Hockey News editorial team, who then compete for Player of the Month. The winner will be determined through a fan vote lasting several weeks and will qualify directly for the election for Player of the 2025/26 season, which will take place after the last monthly vote.

In addition to the six monthly winners, the editorial team nominated six other deserving players, giving a total of twelve players to choose from. The result of the final Player of the Year election is the sum of two votes. 50% from the fan voting as in the Player of the Month elections and 50% from an editorial vote in which the Hockey News editorial team votes.

Voting runs until Friday November 28th/midnight and here are the nominations for Player of the Month for October:

Simeon Schwinger (KAC)

9 games – 6 goals – 3 assists
His third full season with the KAC is likely to be his best in terms of points. The team striker already has eight goals this season, six of them in a very strong October for him personally.

Cole Bardreau (HC Pustertal)

10 games – 7 goals – 6 assists
The veteran with NHL experience doesn’t need any adjustment time in his first European season. There is no question that the wolves of HC Pustertal managed to win gold. Bardreau is the Italians’ top scorer and an extremely important offensive pillar.

Brady Shaw (Ferencvaros Budapest)

8 games – 10 goals – 4 assists
League newcomer Ferencvaros got a lot of ICEHL routine on board for the premiere season and is doing very well with it. Brady Shaw, who has already proven his scoring skills at Fehervar and HC Innsbruck, has not lost any of his quality during his recent engagement in France and is currently Hungary’s top scorer.

Benjamin Nissner (Red Bull Salzburg)

10 games – 4 goals – 7 assists
Benjamin Nissner scored 29 goals last season, which was also the best of his career. This year he continues there and has a scorer yield of 1 point/game. So he is well on the way to confirming his last top season.

Brad McClure (HC Bozen)

5 games – 7 goals – 1 assists
Brad McClure missed part of the season so far due to injury. This makes his performance all the more remarkable. The Canadian, who is in his fourth season with the Foxes, scored seven goals in October and only needed five appearances.

Sebastian Wraneschitz (Vienna Capitals)

5 games – 2 wins – 11 goals conceded – 92.7% catch rate – 0 shut-outs
In his third season in the Vienna Capitals’ first team squad, Sebastian Wraneschitz showed that he had once again taken a step forward. He confirmed his playing time with top performances before a serious injury kept him out of action for months.
