As is tradition, Hockey-News is once again looking for the player of the season. Before that, however, it is important to choose the respective players of the month, which will be determined by fan voting. In the fourth monthly voting we are looking for the player of the month for December.
Six players are nominated monthly by the Hockey News editorial team, who then compete for Player of the Month. The winner will be determined through a fan vote lasting several weeks and will qualify directly for the election for Player of the 2025/26 season, which will take place after the last monthly vote.
In addition to the six monthly winners, the editorial team nominated six other deserving players, giving a total of twelve players to choose from. The result of the final Player of the Year election is the sum of two votes. 50% from the fan voting as in the Player of the Month elections and 50% from an editorial vote in which the Hockey News editorial team votes.
Voting runs until Friday, January 30th/midnight and here are the nominations for Player of the Month for December:
Nick Bailen (Graz99ers)
8 games – 3 goals – 9 assists
Nick Bailen, who is still producing top performances at the age of 36, played a significant role in the Graz99ers’ upswing. He was the defender with the highest points in December.
Travis Barron (Black Wings Linz)
9 games – 5 goals – 7 assists
At his first European stop, Travis Barron impresses in the Black Wings Linz uniform and is one of the most important cornerstones of the Stahlstadters.
Brad McClure (HC Bozen)
8 games – 5 goals – 7 assists
His fourth season in Bolzano will be his best, that is already clear. He has already scored 20 goals, more than in his previous three seasons in the HCB uniform.
Linden Vey (Vienna Capitals)
9 games – 3 goals – 9 assists
The Vienna Capitals’ top signing is getting better and better and was a reliable scorer in December.
Tyler Coulter (Ferencvaros Budapest)
8 games – 7 goals – 3 assists
The top scorer in December was Tyler Coulter. The Ferencvaros striker, who joined his third ICEHL team this year, is currently his team’s second-best scorer.
Sebastian Dahm (EC KAC)
8 games – 6 wins – 13 goals conceded – 93.9% catch rate – 2 shut-outs
At 38 years old, Sebastian Dahm is perhaps still the best goalie in the entire league. The Dane delivered an outstanding December.
