The Vienna Capitals won 4:3 in the penalty shootout against the Pioneers Vorarlberg, despite being 1:3 behind, thus ending their series of defeats.
After four defeats in a row, the Vienna Capitals returned to winning ways against Vorarlberg. Linden Vey gave the home team the lead after just 95 seconds in the power play. But the Pioneers came back impressively: Casey Dornbach scored with a precise shot into the near corner to equalize, shortly afterwards Eric Florchuk made it 1:2. In the middle period, Ramon Schnetzer increased the lead to two goals for the first time, but Vienna had an answer ready. Mitch Hults brought his team back before Jeremy Gregoire forced extra time with another power play goal five minutes before the end of normal time. The decision was finally made in the shootout, in which Hults and Vey scored for the Caps.
