ICEHL transfer: VSV signs Canadians with league experience!

The EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV can announce the signing of Joseph Cramarossa for the coming season. The 33-year-old Canadian is moving to Villach and will wear the blue and white jersey in the future.

The striker, born in Markham, Ontario (Canada), measures 1.85 meters, weighs 86 kilograms and shoots left-handed. Cramarossa can play both as a center and on the left wing and is considered a versatile offensive player.

His career began in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In 2011, he was drafted in the 3rd round, 65th overall, by the Anaheim Ducks.

At the professional level, he gained experience in the AHL and ECHL before also playing in the NHL. There he played a total of 68 games for the Anaheim Ducks, the Vancouver Canucks and the Minnesota Wild, in which he recorded 5 goals and 8 assists (13 points).

His first European stop was the 2022/23 season with Adler Mannheim in the DEL. He then played for the Frankfurt Lions for a season before playing for the Augsburger Panthers the following season. There he contributed 5 goals and 15 assists (20 points) in 40 games.

Head coach Pierre Allard is particularly pleased about the new addition:

“Joseph is a leader and brings valuable NHL experience with him. He will definitely take our team to a new level. I was particularly impressed by his leadership qualities and his maturity – we have spoken to each other several times and he seems very stable and determined. He wants to be actively involved in our project, that’s exactly the kind of player we are looking for. With his experience, he will be a great help and a role model for our young players. He is a real leader who makes the team better. He is also dangerous in front of the goal, plays physically strong, drives his Consistently finishes checks and works very well in defense. Overall, it was exactly this mix of experience, character and playing style that was crucial for us. His ideas about his role in the team are very positive and make us look forward to the future.”

With a lot of self-confidence and anticipation of his new task, Cramarossa describes his style of play and his goals in Villach as follows:

“I have developed into a very complete player over the last few years and feel comfortable in all game situations. My strengths lie in ice skating, defensive play and my offensive creativity, combined with a certain physical presence. This allows me to take on many roles in a team. I have also only heard positive things about the team from players like Joe Cannata. I expect a very competitive team and hope for a long playoff run. I have also heard that the cohesion in the team is very strong – even off the ice I’m really looking forward to this new challenge.”
