Jan Muršak had actually already announced the end of his career. Before last season, the plan was clear: attack again and then call it a day. But the early and surprising end of the KAC has shaken these considerations, as the “Kleine Zeitung” reports.
Looking back, the 38-year-old Slovenian was disappointed: too many mistakes in the crucial phase and numerous injured players prevented a longer playoff run. “That’s just how ice hockey is,” the striker summed up matter-of-factly to the “Kleine Zeitung”.
Discussions with the club are pending
It is currently unclear whether Muršak will actually end his career. There will be discussions with the KAC in the coming weeks that should point the way.
In any case, his statements make you sit up and take notice: “I would like to stay at the club, if not as a player, then perhaps in player development or management. But I can’t imagine being a coach at the moment, I’ve traveled almost my whole life and spent a lot of time on the bus. After my active career, I don’t want to do that to the same extent anymore.” A final farewell sounds different. In fact, another season seems to be entirely possible – depending on how both sides come to an agreement.
Carinthia as a center of life
Muršak could also make an important decision in his private life: he likes Carinthia. The veteran is already thinking about settling permanently in the region and is monitoring the real estate market.
But before that happens, he wants clarity about his professional future. It shouldn’t be an emotional decision – it should be a well-considered one.
Decision eagerly awaited
Whether as a player or in another capacity – there are many indications that Muršak could remain loyal to the KAC. The coming weeks will show which path the experienced Slovenian takes.
