Serious setback for HC Bozen: Defense chief Mark Barberio will be missing for the South Tyroleans for several more months. The Canadian defender had already suffered a muscle injury in the autumn, which re-opened in December.
According to “Sportnews”, a return of the ICEHL top defender is only realistic after the Olympic Games, i.e. at the end of February. This means Barberio, who was presented as a royal transfer in the summer, misses a large part of the crucial phase of the season. In order to react to the long-term loss, HC Bozen has already taken action and signed Matt Cairns as a replacement. The defender, also from Canada, is supposed to close the gap in defense and bring stability to the defense as long as Barberio is not available for action.
