An exciting 26th season of the win2day ICE Hockey League ended last week. Here is a look at the team of the season, consisting of six players plus head coach. Premiere champion Moser Medical Graz99ers is the most frequently represented with four actors. There are also two players from Olimpija Ljubljana and one player from finalists HC Falkensteiner Pustertal.
Eddie Pasquale | Goalie | HC Falkensteiner Pustertal
The goalkeeper played a key role in the South Tyroleans reaching the final for the first time. In the playoffs, the Canadian remained without conceding a goal for a total of 279 minutes and 17 seconds – a new league record. The 35-year-old celebrated a total of seven shutouts last season – more than any other goalie.
TJ Brennan | Defense | Olimpija Ljubljana
Of course, regular season MVP TJ Brennan should not be missing from the team of the season. The 37-year-old had a total of 55 points, 53 of them in the regular season. The American even managed a four-point game in three appearances.
Nick Bailen | Defense | Moser Medical Graz99ers
Nick Bailen from Champion Graz is the defender with the highest points points last season. The 36-year-old scored 50 times in the regular season, plus twelve more points in the playoffs – he only remained without a scorer point in two postseason appearances. For the American, it was the season with the best points in his long career.
Kevin Roy | Offense | Moser Medical Graz99ers
For Kevin Roy it was his second season in Graz – and once again an enormously successful one. After 47 points last season, the Canadian had 53 points this time. He recorded 14 points in the playoffs alone, in which he remained without a point four times, but also shone four times with two or three-point games.
Nicolai Meyer | Offense | Olimpija Ljubljana
With Nicolai Meyer, a second player from Olimpija Ljubljana made it into the team of the season. The Dane finished the season as the second best scorer with 67 points. He scored four points in one game twice and had three points on the scoreboard five times. Only once in his career did the 32-year-old have a season with even more points.
Lukas Haudum | Offense | Moser Medical Graz99ers
Meyer was only surpassed in points by Lukas Haudum. The 28-year-old had 72 points this season, 20 of them in the playoffs, which is why the now two-time champion was consequently voted playoffs MVP. In the postseason, the Linz native was only denied a scorer point in two games. For Haudum it was the season with the best points in his career to date.
Daniel Lacroix | Head Coach | Moser Medical Graz99ers
Head coach of the season is Daniel Lacroix from Meister Graz. The 57-year-old Canadian only joined the team in mid-November and immediately got the Graz team on track. In the end, the 99ers secured the regular season victory and subsequently the first championship in the club’s history without a playoff defeat. The Styrians won over 85% of all games under the direction of Lacroix.
