Bitter news for the EC VSV: striker Adam Helewka fails with a back injury at least two weeks. This means that the Canadian has to miss the remaining preparation of the blue and white-but he should be ready for championship again. No replacement is planned for the time being!
“He can be there again at the beginning of the season,” says sports director Herbert Hohenberger in an interview with the “Kleine Zeitung”. Adam Helewka suffered the injury in training. “It is also a bit of a precaution so that it does not have to go into the season.” Nevertheless, the timing is anything but cheap. “Especially in preparation you have time to test things and try out variants.”
Opportunity for the boys
Hohenberger also sees a possibility in the failure: players like Paul Sintschnig, Luca Fischer or Kevin Mandl could now get more ice age and gain important experience.
No replacement planned – for now
The VSV is currently not looking for a replacement for Helewka. “We still have a legionnaire, but for now this is not an issue. First we want to give our boy the chance,” emphasizes Hohenberger. If the situation exacerbates, the association would have to evaluate.
Next hardest test against Wolfsburg
After two successful test games, Wolfsburg is now waiting for the eagles with Wolfsburg. “This is a top address in the DEL. I am glad that we have such opponents in preparation,” said Hohenberger.
For the moment it is time for the VSV: compensate for the failure of Helewka as best as possible – and at the same time trust the young players.
