In the first test game against the DEL2 club Kassel Huskies, the VSV had to surrender 3: 4 after penalty shootout.
The eagles started the game strongly, controlled the action in the first third and took the lead 2-0 with hits from John Hughes and Paul Sintschnig. But in the second section Kassel promptly struck back and equalized to 2: 2 within a few minutes.
In the final third, the huskies even took the lead almost four minutes before the end. But Kevin Hancock-also in the power play and after preparatory work by Hughes-provided the 3: 3 equalization and forced overtime.
In penalty shooting, the Germans finally kept the upper hand: While no shooter was successful on Villacher, Yannik Valenti converted the decisive attempt for Kassel.
