The EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV celebrated a confident 4-1 away win in Fehérvár on Sunday evening. But the success also had a bitter aftertaste.
After falling behind early on, the Eagles turned the game around with three goals in the middle period, led by an outstanding Guus van Nes. Fehérvár pressed in the final third, but failed due to the strong Villach defense and a brilliant Joe Cannata. Villach rewarded itself with three important points and wants to improve on Wednesday in the “Ländle”.
It seems very unlikely that Mark Katic will be there. The defender limped off the ice after a collision shortly before the end of the game and never returned. According to “Kronen Zeitung”, he had pain in his lower body area and now has to go for an MRI.
A loss would be bitter, as VSV already has two failures in defense with Alex Wall and Thomas Vallant.
