The next preparatory game is on the program for the blue-whites: this Tuesday (Stadthalle Villach, start: 7:15 p.m., live on Sporteurope.tv), the “eagles” receive the Croatian representative of the Alps, KHL SISAK at home as part of the Preseason.
The starting situation
After an intensive start of the preparation, the Head Coach Tray Tuomie team wants to further support its progress. Especially in the areas of pace, disc safety, disc management and special teams, further steps are to be taken forward. While the previous tests have already brought valuable information about the offensive, the focus is now also increasingly on stability in its own third and consistent work against the disc. With the home game against Sisak, the ideal opportunity is to present the rehearsed processes in front of your own fans and to collect confidence for the further hardware tests and the upcoming start to the season in Budapest.
The opponent
The Croatian club KHL SISAK is one of the aspiring clubs in the Alps League and, contrary to expectations, was able to achieve some “respect for success” and, for example, and defeated the later master, the EK Zell am See, in the home ice rink “Ledena Dvorana Zibel” with 10: 2. Sisak presented himself as an unpleasant opponent for long distances from the main round, who had a play, passion, passion and a physical style of play. In the end, it was enough for Croatians in table position 7 and a participation in the pre-playoffs, where they left HC Merano.
In this year’s off-season, Head Coach Josh Siembida gave his squad a new face and specifically committed young, capable of development. With Danila Larionov, who moved from the Polish league to Croatia, Sisak won a technically experienced striker who is supposed to provide accents, especially in the switching game. Marijus Dumčius also joined the team from Finland’s highest U20 division, a quick wing striker who convinces with a lot of walking and playing joke. Reinforcement also came from the rows of former league competitors: Bohdan Panasenko moved from the Slovenian club HDD Celje to Sisak and, in addition to robust physique, also has valuable experience in alpine league operations.
From the statistics corner
Particularly striking in the previous test games: Alex Wall, who convinced in his four missions both defensively and in the opening of the player (over 83.4% successful player openings) and already posted three assists. On the offensive, “old master” John Hughes is still the linchpin. In addition to its three goals and four assists, the Austro Canadian was directly involved in over 60% of the Grade A Tor chances of the “Adler”.
Personnel
Adam Helewka will not be there yet. Head coach Tuomie hopes that access to the season start is fit. The new father of twins, Felix Maxa, will celebrate his season debut, Paolo Wielschnig is not yet fit.
