ICEHL: The top newcomers of the 2025/26 season! (1/2)

Not every transfer is a risk. Some newcomers immediately made an impact in the ICE Hockey League and developed into pillars of their teams. Whether as a scorer, playmaker or leader – these players not only met the high expectations, but in some cases significantly exceeded them. An overview of the best newcomers from external leagues so far in the 2025/26 season.

Linden Vey (Vienna Capitals)

The signing of Linden Vey was one of the big transfer sensations of the offseason. The 34-year-old Canadian has an exceptional resume, played for years at the top level in the KHL, NLA and AHL and played almost 140 NHL games. As captain of the Vienna Capitals, he impresses with his overview and game intelligence. With 40 points in 42 games, Vey delivers, even if he still lacks the big scorers in Vienna for his brilliant passes.

Brett Pollock (HC Bozen)

Brett Pollock came to South Tyrol with an impressive CV and confirmed this from the first game. The 29-year-old Canadian, who was one of the offensive pillars in the DEL, KHL and the Slovakian league for years, also made a huge impact at HC Bozen. With a strong 46 points in 43 games, the 1.91 meter tall striker is the Foxes’ internal top scorer. Pollock is the offensive anchor in the Bozen game.

Cole Schneider (HC Bozen)

Cole Schneider also turned out to be an absolute stroke of luck for HC Bozen. The 35-year-old American dominated the Norwegian league with Storhamar last season and brings experience from over 800 AHL games. He is now also showing this class in the ICEHL: 45 points in 41 games speak for themselves. Schneider is a key player in the Bolzano offensive.

Travis Barron (Black Wings Linz)

Travis Barron made a huge impact at the Black Wings Linz and immediately developed into a top performer. The 27-year-old Canadian came to Upper Austria with years of AHL experience and delivered consistently. With 41 points in 40 games, he is one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league. His performances also make him extremely interesting beyond the season.
