ICEHL: The Pioneers Vorarlberg welcome two tough guys!

This weekend, ice hockey fans in the state can look forward to two home games with duels against the absolute top teams in the league. The “Wolves” from Brunico will be guests on Friday, and on Sunday they will face the league leaders from Ljubljana.

Both opponents in the top four of the table

Before facing the “Dragons” from the Slovenian capital for the second time this season on Sunday, there will be the first meeting with HC Pustertal this season on Friday.

“The first duel with Pustertal brings a new challenge”

The team from Brunico has 18 points after nine games, which means they are fourth in the table. With only 20 goals conceded, the “Pusterers” are currently the team with the fewest goals conceded (together with the KAC), and Cole Bardreau, one of the league’s highest-scoring players, is also in the “Wolves” squad (6 goals, 8 assists).

PIV head coach Johannes Nygard before the encounter with the South Tyroleans: “The first duel with Pustertal brings a new challenge for us! Pustertal is a very diverse team and we have to make sure that we work both hard and smart.”

Offensive power for the “Dragons”

On Sunday Macierzynski & Co will meet current league leaders Olimpija Ljubljana. The Slovenians come to Feldkirch with the best offense in the entire league, 54 goals scored after ten games brings an impressive average of 5.4 goals per game. The “Dragons” are also at the top when it comes to special teams. Statistically speaking, the Slovenians have the best PowerPlay and the second best shorthanded game in the win2day ICE Hockey League. With TJ Brennan and Nicolai Meyer, two Olimpija players are also at the top of the points standings.

“The game against Fehervar showed us that we can keep up and survive against any team,” continued the Finnish man behind the Pioneers bench. The Montfortstadt team will still have to do without the injured players Aron Summer and Ivan Korecky, and we will also be missing Mark Mussbacher due to illness. But Louie Roehl should be able to play again.

Bring your Friend promotion for season ticket holders

At the home game on October 17th against HC Falkensteiner Pustertal, season ticket holders will once again have the opportunity to bring friends to the stadium for free as part of our “Bring your Friend” campaign. More about it here:
