ICEHL: The KAC wants to continue its winning streak against Laibach with a returnee!

The EC-KAC, inspired by six successes in a row, will face the proverbial goal factory of the win2day ICE Hockey League on Sunday evening, with Olimpija Ljubljana coming to Klagenfurt.

After four away games in a row across all competitions, the EC-KAC (eight wins, three defeats) returns to home territory: On Sunday, October 26, 2025, the Red Jackets will host Olimpija Ljubljana (nine wins, three defeats) in the Heidi Horten Arena. The duel with the current second-placed team, who have scored by far the most goals this season of all teams in the league, starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live by ORF Sport+.

Initial situation:

The EC-KAC has won all of its six games so far in the month of October, each of them by exactly one goal. On Friday evening, the Red Jackets won away to Fehérvár AV19 2-1 after a penalty shootout, with Florian Vorauer shining in goal (33 saves) and defender Jordan Murray scoring both in regular time and in the shootout. Klagenfurt remains in seventh place in the table, but already has the fourth-best points average of all teams with 1.91.

Despite two wins in a row, the red and white engine still stuttered a bit in home games; currently only eight of the 21 points on the account come from matches played in the Heidi Horten Arena. The EC-KAC’s goals conceded average of 2.27 is now the third lowest in the win2day ICE Hockey League behind the two teams from South Tyrol. The record champions’ penalty killing has also been convincing in recent weeks: of the last 17 phases of numerical disadvantage, only one was ended prematurely by a goal conceded, and the seasonal success rate rose to 85.3 percent.

Personnel

The EC-KAC will still have to do without the long-term injured David Maier, Luka Gomboc and Fabian Hochegger in the duel with Olimpija Ljubljana. In the case of the Slovenian attacker, the decision has now been made that his upper body injury will be treated conservatively, so the duration of his absence should be defined in weeks rather than months.

Goalie Sebastian Dahm, who has spent the past few days in his Danish homeland for personal reasons, will be available again for the Red Jackets on Sunday. The field players are expected to remain unchanged for the encounter with the Slovenians compared to the game at Fehérvár AV19. Defender Filip Simovic and striker Oliver Lam will spend the weekend in the U20 team, which concludes the first phase of its regular season with two games in Budapest.
