The red jackets continue their preparatory program on Wednesday evening with the home game against the traditional pre-season guest from Germany, the Grizzlys Wolfsburg.
After the successful start against Olimpija Ljubljana last Friday (3-0), the EC-KAC continued its series of preparatory games on Wednesday evening (7.15 p.m.) on its own ice. At the start of the test game week, in which the Vienna Capitals and the EC VSV will also be in use in Klagenfurt, the red jackets meet the Grizzlys Wolfsburg from the DEL.
The Lower Saxony completed their training camp for the season preparation on Lake Wörthersee for the third year in a row, from the preparatory games against the red jackets played in this context, all went to the EC-KAC (2023: 4: 2 and 5: 2, 2024: 4: 1).
Wolfsburg hopes for a comeback season in 2025/26: After four top five positions in the basic round table of the DEL in a row and three semi-final qualifications in four years, the Grizzlys only completed the past season in eleven. Accordingly, the squad was significantly changed in the summer. From the circle of newcomers, the two Americans brought from the KHL protrude Keaton Thompson in defense and Robert Lynch in the attack. However, there was no change on the command bridge, where ex-KAC striker Gary Shuchuk continues to assist the former VSV defender and coach Michael Stewart.
Additional tickets available
After the extension period of subscriptions for pre-season and Chl home games ended on Monday, the non-extended subscription places are now available. Tickets for the encounter with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg (and all other test games to be extended in Klagenfurt) are available in the online ticket shop of the EC-KAC at Tickets.kac.at (opens in a new window) or available on matchday from 5.45 p.m. at the main entrance of the Heidi Horten-Arena. Seating cards cost € 15.00, standing room cards € 10.00, for children up to the age of 14, admission is free, but an admission ticket must be picked up on the evening box.
Update to staff
In the second pre-season game, the red jackets probably have to do without center forwarder Jan Muršak, who is ill and had to drop out both the Media Day of Win2day Ice Hockey League on Monday and team training on Tuesday. All other squad players are fit. Newcomer Mario Kempe only moved to Klagenfurt later in the current week.
