ICEHL: The Innsbruck Sharks want to “show character” in Hungary

Before the difficult away double in Hungary, the Haie coaches are taking their cracks into account. It’s important to show character.

The situation with the sharks is disappointing. After the defeat at the Pioneers, the gap to Vorarlberg has grown to nine points and the pre-playoff places have long been out of sight. Nevertheless, the support of the fans has not stopped, the HCI cracks are loudly supported game after game, and even when they lose, applause accompanies them in the dressing rooms. For that reason alone, the team has to deliver now, said assistant coach Florian Pedevilla: “We have to give something back. Our goal is to win every game, and that’s how we’re going into this weekend. We demand commitment, pride and passion from every player for the fans and the club. Our leaders have to lead the way here.”

Balance sheet extremely negative

At the start of the double guest game in Hungary, the Haie will meet Hydro Fehérvár AV19 tomorrow evening. The red devils have recently stabilized after a slump and are safely in seventh place in the pre-playoff places, nine points behind the current sixth-placed Pustertal. The Hungarians certainly still plan to attack the top 6 in order to be in contention for direct playoff qualification. That’s why three points against the bottom of the table will probably be a given. The Hungarians’ record against the Haie this season is clearly positive. All three previous encounters went to Fehérvár, albeit close.

Less than 24 hours after the game against Fehérvár, the Haie have to play in Budapest. Here too, the Sharks’ season record looks negative at 0:2. Time to finally steal points from the Hungarian teams!
