The expired playing time of Win2day Ice Hockey League was a real disappointment for HC Innsbruck “The Haie”. A lot has been changed in the Tyrolean capital, including the occupation of the head coach post. Now you want to continue to orient yourself up again.
48 season games played the sharks in the past season, only ten of them could be won. With 30 points, they said goodbye to the summer break as the bottom of the table, where you once again faced many personnel decisions. Königstransfer was the one around the former league MVP Steven Owre, who decided to commit several years at the Inn. Otherwise you brought a lot of “new” legionaries into the team – and that under the “leadership” of Jordan Smotherman.
But it was precisely this a few weeks ago to terminate the contract. Family reasons pulled the American back to North America. At the HCI you had to look around for an alternative and found it in the former Ebel Crack Ryan Kinasewich. He stormed between 2010 and 2016 for Zagreb, Salzburg, Graz, Dornbirn and Fehervar. He got 163 points in 160 missions. Even if his active time in the multinational league had been a few years ago, he knows the league and has also obtained information.
Before the decision to take over the sharks as a head coach, he spoke to the former HCI coach Mitch O’keefe. This spoke only in the best tones about the team from the Tyrolean capital. Dylan Stanley, who said goodbye to Davos in the Offseason from Vorarlberg, also gave his opinion.
For Kinasewich, the sharks are the second station as a head coach, for the past four years he has held this position at the Utah Grizzlies in the East Coast Hockey League (Echl). But of course he knows that a very difficult task is waiting for him: “Sure, it will be a big challenge for me, especially since it is also the first stop in Europe,” Kinasewich told the Kronen Zeitung. “On a wavelength” are the new main trainer and his assistant coach, Florian Pedevilla-you agree on the game orientation: quickly, with the right train to the goal. “We have the players for it,” you show yourself confidently.
On August 24th, the first test against the Pioneers Vorarlberg is waiting for the HCI, on September 12th the season starts against HC Falkensteiner Pustertal – in front of a home backdrop.
