While the sporting analysis is ongoing after the end of the season, sports director Christian Dolezal is already working intensively on the Vienna Capitals squad for the 2026/27 season. A central point in the planning: The Vienna ICEHL club wants to rely more on Austrian players in the future.
According to “Kurier”, the plan is to start the new season with two local goalkeepers. This would mean that the Capitals would consistently rely on an Austrian duo in goal for the first time.
This strategy fits with the general direction of the club. Dolezal wants to further strengthen the core of Austrian players, while at the same time keeping some top performers with existing contracts in the team. These include captain Linden Vey and defender Nelson Nogier.
