Shortly before the turn of the year, Ferencváros upped the ante and signed Luke Green, a defender who brings a lot to the table on paper. The 27-year-old Canadian should give the defense more stability and, above all, set an offensive tone.
Green was drafted in the third round by Winnipeg in 2016 and has since gained plenty of international experience. AHL, Finland, Sweden, Slovakia, Germany – the man knows different game systems and tempos. This is exactly what can help an ICEHL team enormously over the course of the season.
Green is not seen as a pure stay-at-home defender, but rather as a strong, puck-safe defender who likes to get involved in the attack. This could bring new options, especially in the power play – something that Ferencváros could really use.
