The Preseason is coming to an end and the new season of Icehl is just around the corner. Time to take a look at the teams and deal with the squads with which the 13 clubs go into the new season. We present the squad, you take over the evaluation: with our survey tool at the end of the article.
With Ferencvaros TC, a second Hungarian team from the capital Budapest Asiago, which was no longer found to be a league. A surprising decision by the league owners and thus the clubs, who again preferred an odd number of participants and at the same time want to expand the market in Hungary. But what can be expected of the capital club, which has collected six Hungarian championship titles in the past seven years and has two titles and three final participants in the “First League”? In any case, the team was completely converted, not only the coach, but also the team was replaced and can no longer be compared to that of the previous year. And although there are some league-known faces in the line-up, an assessment is difficult to predict …
TRAINER
There was a late but probably important change in coaching staff with the Magyars. Actually, they wanted to go into the first ICEL season with the long-standing success coach Szabolcs Fodor. The 46-year-old, who played almost 100 EBEL games for Fehervar between 2007 and 2011, has been with Ferencvaro’s head coach since 2018 and the father of the success in recent years. At the same time, he should also take the role of General Manager. But it was recognized in good time that this could not be reconciled and reacted. With the Finn Timo Saarikoski, the Finn ordered an experienced coach who had already gained a lot of international experience, worked in his homeland of France, Slovakia and most recently in the DEL2 near Freiburg. The former Finnish team striker is said to ensure a successful debut season with the proven coaching staff for Assistant Coach Yul Hennelly and Goaliecoach Teemu toivan. Fodor can therefore concentrate entirely on his role as GM.
GOALKEEPER
The least changed in the goalie position. Two of three goalkeepers were allowed to stay and only last year’s legionnaire Janis Kalnins had to go. The 29-year-old Gergely Arany and 25-year-old Kristof Nagy are two experienced final men who shared the missions in the last season. The newcomer in the box of the Hungary is far more experienced. Bence Balisz returns to the league after twelve years, in which he was already active for Fehervar between 2009 and 2014. Most recently, the 35-year-old, who has also been in the box for his home country for 14 years, worked in Norway. The Hungarians will go into the season with a local goalie. It will be shown whether this will stay that way throughout the season …
DEFENSE
The association’s defense experienced a complete change. With Boldizsár Farkas and Máté Seregély, only two local heros were allowed to stay, plus the Finne Paavo Tyni, who was able to convince last season. The rest was replaced. The Hungarians defensively rely on Sweden power. An exciting name is the 28-year-old Jesper Lindgren, who was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth round in 2015. It will be immensely important for the game structure and also has scorer qualities and will therefore also represent a pillar in the power play. This will also be 32-year-old Rasmus Bengtsson. The Florida Panthers (2011) secondary. With the 34-year-old Alexander Ytterell, a third Swedish veteran comes to the team. He too is offensive and will ensure the risk of scoring. The defense rounds off two domestic, experienced cracks: Milan Horvath was already on Ice-Ice between 2020 and 2023 and is an integral part of the Hungarian national team. At the age of 27, Gergely Toth has seen a lot and also gained experience abroad in Scotland. All in all, the Magyars have a very experienced and offensive defense that could cause problems with the opponent both at the front and at the back.

STRIKER
From a percentage point of view, the upheaval on the offensive is even more violent. As in the defense, only two domestic players, the young Zsombor Galajda (22) and Gergely Mattyasovszky (23) and a legionnaire were allowed to remain. Like in the defense, this is a Finn that goes into its fourth season with Ferencvaros and is called Aku Kestila. The rest of the legionaries were all exchanged, including the top scorer of the last two seasons and the now 40-year-old NHL veteran David Booth another well-known crack, which was now moving to Australia. For this you brought a lot of experience into the team, especially two who know how to do in the Icehl Scort.
Brady Shaw, once brought to the league from Fehervar, then in Innsbruck top scorer, changes from France, where he scored 43 goals last season, back to Hungary. Tyler Coulter already went on goals for HC Innsbruck and last season for HC Pustertal and also knows where the box is. Another ICE-experienced striker is Istvan Sofron. The 37-year-old returns to ICE after nine years and will also be important in the cabin due to his routine. Maxime Trepanier is a 26-year-old winger who, two years ago, shot Storhamar to the championship title two years ago and scored 26 goals in Denmark last season. The other legionnaire offensive spots take two Finns. The 26-year-old Jussi Tammela was recently active in Norway for three years and is considered a constant scorer who also likes to use his 90kg and shows hardness. This is evidenced by his more than 200 minutes of penalty in Norway.
Topi Rönni, on the other hand, is still at the beginning of his career at the age of 21, which will certainly not end in Hungary. The Calgary Flames’s second -class picking pick is an excellent pass player who was most recently active in Slovakia. The offensive is rounded off by four domestic cracks. Krisztián Nagy is a flexible ice -networkable striker who has a lot of experience at the age of 31 and is a Hungarian team player. David Molnar, Andras Mihalik and Richard Toth, on the other hand, only stood on the ice in their homeland and will provide a squad depth. The offense has a good mix of experienced and talented, young strikers and contains some potential scorers. You will see whether this mix is good enough for the icehl.
Now you are on: Where can you see Ferencvarosi TC in the coming season?
