The EC Red Bull Salzburg today gave the starting signal for the 2025/26 season with the first team training in the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy. Head Coach Manny Viveiros drove a difficult program.
Almost two hours of egg training with a short break in between for ice preparation – the first training with the new team was tough. 25 professionals were there at the start of the training and followed Manny Viveiros’ instructions, who took over the position of head coach in the summer and also brought a new assistant coach with Adam Maglio. They were flanked by Assistant coach Daniel Petersson and goalie coach Markus Kerschbaumer, who have been helping shape the work of the Salzburg coaching team for several years.
Statement Manny Viveiros
“The first training session had a high level. There is a reason why the Red Bulls have won the title in the past four years. The boys are ready and have a goal for this year. I was very satisfied with the first training session, both with performance and with quality.”
With Michael Raffl, Devante Stephens, Connor Corcoran and Travis St. Denis (in the picture), the new Red Bull players also stood on the ice, while Ali Wukovits, who was in the rehab phase after his hip surgery in mid-July, and Vadim Schreiner, who was only able to observe the action from the margin. Luca Auer as well as the academy players Maximilian Wurzer and Maximilian Kirchebner were missing due to federal commitments.
Mathias Böhm, who came to Salzburg from the Vienna Capitals in the summer, and Florian Lanzinger have already staged well. The young players of the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy, as well as Wurzer and Kirchebner, only want to work out their place in the Salzburg professional team. The academy players Fabian Baumann and goalkeeper Luca Haitzmann also stood on the ice today.
Gentle entry into egg training
Many years ago, the first team training after the condition phase in summer was actually often the first contact with the ice and the new, mostly very stiff skates, the Salzburg professionals have been preparing individually on the Eis of the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy for many years before and can start immediately. The intensity of the first team training after such a long break is always a challenge for the seasoned professionals.
First test against Slovakian champions with fan event
