The Red Bulls lived up to their favorite role right from the start, earned numerous opportunities and took the lead with goals from Travis St. Denis and a Shorthaner by Lucas Thaler 2-0 in the first 40 minutes. The Viennese only found their way into the game in the final third by Sam Antonitsch’s goal, but could no longer seriously endanger Salzburg. Michael Raffl finally made the final decision with his first goal of the season. The Red Bulls remain league leader Olimpija Ljubljana with the same number of points.
