There are three rounds on the program in the win2day ICE Hockey League this week before the first international break of this season. The 15th round takes place on Wednesday. Among others, league leaders HC Falkensteiner Pustertal will be visiting the Moser Medical Graz99ers and HCB Südtirol Alperia will be hosting the EC-KAC.
HC Falkensteiner Pustertal is still in sensational form. The league leaders have won all of the last four games – most recently against defending champions Salzburg 5-3. On Wednesday the South Tyroleans will be visiting the Moser Medical Graz99ers. The Styrians are in fourth place in the table, but only four points behind Pustertal. The 99ers are also generally in good shape: they have always been able to score points in the last seven games and have won four of them. Last Sunday they beat the Pioneers 4-1 at home – it was the first game under interim coach Philipp Pinter. The success against the Pioneers was only their second home win in the sixth game, while Pustertal won six of its seven away games. In the first duel of the season on September 14th in Brunico, Graz celebrated a clear 4-0 away win. As usual, the game will be broadcast live on Sporteurope.tv; All Italian fans can also watch the game live for free on DAZN Italia.
KAC is looking for revenge against Bozen
In the first duel of the season between EC-KAC and HCB Südtirol Alperia, Bozen celebrated a clear 5-1 away win. This time the South Tyroleans welcome the Klagenfurt team to an always explosive top game. In the table, Bozen is in fourth place with 26 points, while KAC is sixth with 22 points. Last Sunday, the KAC’s six-game winning streak ended with a 3-4/SO home defeat against Ljubljana, while Bozen won 5-4/SO in Budapest and secured their third win in a row. With only 26 (HCB) and 29 (KAC) goals conceded, both teams have the best defenses in the league so far. The KAC has only had to admit defeat 4-1 away at the start of the season in Salzburg – the following five away games were all won, while Bozen was able to win four of its previous six home games.
Salzburg is a guest at the Pioneers
Pioneers Vorarlberg, bottom of the table, were unable to win five games in a row. Defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg recently suffered a 3-5 home defeat against Pustertal; Before that, the Red Bulls celebrated two wins in a row. Salzburg is in fifth place in the table with 24 points. In the first duel of the season with the Pioneers, the Mozartstadt team won 4-1 in front of their home crowd, although the score was 1-1 until 16 minutes before the end of the game. Salzburg has been having a very difficult time away from home recently – with five away defeats in a row across all competitions. They were only able to win the first two away games this season. The Pioneers, on the other hand, have only been victorious in one of their six home games.
Linz wants to confirm the upward trend in Innsbruck
Last year’s semi-finalist Steinbach Black Wings Linz won both home games last weekend and thus ended their slide of eight defeats from the first ten games. Linz are in eleventh place in the table, directly behind HC TIWAG Innsbruck, who are one point ahead of the Black Wings. The Tyroleans were recently able to end a three-game losing streak with a 2-1 home win against Villach. It was their first home win after regular playing time this season, while Linz is the only team without a point away from home. Both teams face each other for the first time this season. Last season the Black Wings won all four games; Overall, Innsbruck has been waiting for a success against the Stahlstadters since December 26, 2023.
Fehérvár welcomes Vienna
The duel Hydro Fehérvár AV19 against the Vienna Capitals has not yet taken place this season. In preparation for the season, however, both teams already faced each other in Székesfehérvár – with the better end for Vienna (4:3). Last season both teams dueled in the pre-playoffs. Fehérvár prevailed with a 2-1 win; In the deciding game, the Hungarians retained the upper hand 3-2. Things are not going ideal for both teams in the current season. While Fehérvár is ninth with 16 points, the Capitals follow in tenth place with one point less – albeit with one game fewer than the Hungarians. Fehérvár had to admit defeat in the last three games, most recently with a 7-1 defeat in Linz. Vienna got a 4:3/SO home win against the Pioneers – their first success after four defeats in a row.
Ljubljana is aiming for its next win in Budapest
With 27 points, second-placed Olimpija Ljubljana is only two points behind leaders Pustertal. On Wednesday, the Slovenians will be visiting league newcomer FTC-Telekom for the first time, which is in eighth place with 17 points, but has not won any of the last three games – although they scored a point against both Bolzano and Villach. Olimpija has been victorious in the last three league games, most recently with 4:3/SO in Klagenfurt. The Dragons have won four of their six away games so far, while Budapest played three of their six home games successfully. With 66 goals scored, Olimpija continues to have by far the best offense in the league; Nicolai Meyer (24 points) and TJ Brennan (23) lead the top scorers.
