The Graz team dominated the first third and took an early lead through Paul Huber before Trevor Cheek equalized for Fehérvár in the 16th minute. The game remained fast-paced and competitive in the second half. Nick Swaney put the 99ers in front again, but a mistake in the build-up allowed Gerlach to equalize again. The Hungarians then took command, but the score remained 2-2 after 40 minutes. In the final third, both teams initially showed a lot of caution, then the Styrians pressed for the next goal. This was achieved in the 55th minute when Michael Schiechl pushed the puck over the line.
