The Pioneers Vorarlberg have had a season to forget. The 1:4 defeat against Bolzano in the 200th ICE League game in the club’s history not only ended the season, but also a long negative series: nine bankruptcies in a row meant the club’s internal negative record from the premiere season was set.
Statistically, the results are sobering. 184 goals conceded in the regular season represented a low, as did just 113 goals scored in 48 games – making Vorarlberg one of the most harmless teams in the league. Of a total of 200 ICE games since joining the league, only 66 have been won; the goal difference of 491:703 also speaks volumes. There is no such thing as a positive overall record against a league team
Season to forget
Numerous injuries – including to Daniel Woger, Julian Metzler, Roni Allen and Nathan Burke – further weakened the squad. Sports director Michael Lampert announced personnel adjustments for the coming season, saying they wanted to be more broadly positioned and make full use of the Legionnaires’ contingent. Head coach Johannes Nygard and his staff remain on board, as Lampert confirmed to the “Vorarlberger Nachrichten”.
