ICEHL: Pioneers Vorarlberg have to do without strikers in the home double

After the overtime win against series champions Red Bull Salzburg, the Pioneers Vorarlberg also want to score points in the two remaining games of the home game week against Fehervar and KAC.

Good performance against Salzburg was rewarded

The Nygard cracks showed a committed and good performance against the series champions from Salzburg. In the end, Captain Macierzynski & Co were rewarded for this, and they also scored two power play goals in the 3-2 win after extra time.

Look at the opponents this weekend

While the first duel of the season will take place on Sunday against the KAC, the Pioneers have already played against Fehervar once – and successfully. In the 4-1 away win in Hungary, the team put in a convincing performance and deservedly secured all three points.

The gap in the table to Fehervar is currently six points, the team from Székesfehérvár was not satisfied with the start of the season, recently lost four times in a row and recently parted ways with head coach David Kiss. The Hungarians will be looked after by Tyler Dietrich on an interim basis until the international break.

However, things are going better for their opponents on Sunday, the “Rotjackets” from Klagenfurt have won seven of their last eight games. This is equivalent to sixth place (25 points) in the win2day ICE Hockey League.

Failure of Metzler

Unfortunately, Julian Metzler will be missing from both games. The 25-year-old from Vorarlberg unfortunately suffered an upper body injury early on in the game against Salzburg and will not be able to play against Fehervar and the KAC.

PIV head coach Johannes Nygard before the upcoming home game weekend: “We are of course very happy with the win and the performance against Salzburg. With the increased self-confidence, we want to carry the momentum into the games against Fehervar and the KAC. Both are dangerous opponents, but if we play with a lot of speed and intensity again, we can also score points against these teams!”
