The Pioneers Vorarlberg celebrate a comeback success against the KAC. Casey Dornbach made the decision in the penalty shootout. It was the fourth win of the season for the Feldkirchen team.
Bottom of the table Pioneers Vorarlberg said goodbye to the international break with a surprising 2-1/SO home win against EC-KAC. After the 3-2 overtime win against champions Salzburg on Wednesday, the Vorarlbergers were now able to defeat the reigning runner-up. In a very even game, Matt Fraser gave the visitors the lead in the 37th minute. Nathan Burke equalized in the 45th minute and forced extra time. There the KAC initially scored the supposed winning goal, which was disallowed after video study due to unauthorized contact in the goal area. In the shootout, only Casey Dornbach scored and secured the extra point for the Pioneers. For KAC, fifth in the table, it was the first defeat after two wins and only one of two defeats from the last ten games.
