The Pioneers Vorarlberg delivered the biggest surprise of the 15th round with a 3:2/OT home win against defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg. It was the third win of the season for the bottom team and the first success after five defeats in a row. Salzburg had to admit defeat for the second time in a row and is now in fifth place. Everything initially went according to plan against the Pioneers: after just ten minutes, the Mozartstadters were 2-0 ahead thanks to a brace from Troy Bourke. Three minutes later, Oskar Maier shortened the lead for the Pioneers. After that the game was evenly balanced and no further goals were scored. It wasn’t until the 58th minute that Nathan Burke managed to equalize with the advantage, and in overtime Collin Adams completed the surprise after 63 seconds.
