The Pioneers Vorarlberg have announced the signing of Finnish defender Aatu Aarnio on loan.
The 25-year-old will wear the PIV jersey at least until the International Break in November, as the club is reacting to the injury to Ivan Korecky, who will be sidelined for six to eight weeks due to an upper body injury.
Left shooter comes from Vaasa (Liiga)
Aarnio comes from Finnish first division club Vaasan Sport, for whom the 187cm tall defender played six games this season. The newcomer from Finland could already play for the Pioneers Vorarlberg in the upcoming away double in Hungary.
Statement head coach Johannes Nygård
“After Korecky’s injury, we didn’t just want to sign a defender, we wanted to sign a similar type of player to Ivan and we found him in Aatu Aarnio. Aatu is a strong skater who acts with great commitment and defends hard. He will help us in the nine games until the international break.”
