ICEHL: Option in December? Herburger talks about his career planning!

In today’s classic against Salzburg, the KAC wants to end its negative series against the Bulls – but off the ice, Raphael Herburger in particular is the topic of conversation. The 36-year-old offensive leader gave Krone a clear insight into his future for the first time and gave KAC fans hope for more years together.

Contract until 2027 – and the option in December

Herburger is already entering his eighth season in the red jacket jersey and has long been one of the most influential personalities of recent years. According to information from the Krone, he has a contract until 2027 – and although an option has to be exercised at the end of December, the striker himself sounds extremely confident: “This is definitely not my last year here at KAC!”

With this, Herburger clearly indicates that he still sees his future in Klagenfurt. An important signal for the fans, because the father of two is not only one of the cornerstones in terms of sport, but also one of the audience’s favorites as a person.

Not yet at the limit – but full of confidence

In terms of sport, the season is not going quite as planned for the attacker. There are two goals and nine assists, but Herburger knows: “I have to look for the finish more.” Nevertheless, he subordinates everything to the team’s success – and the chemistry with Van Ee and Hundredppound is increasingly good. He sees room for improvement in two areas in particular: the power play and penalty killing. Both elements are crucial to achieving the big goals of the season.

Looking ahead – even away from the ice surface

The anticipation of reuniting with coaching legend Manny Viveiros, who now coaches Salzburg, is great – but Herburger’s focus is clearly on the future at KAC. The ex-Salzburger describes the Bulls as “absolute favorites for the title”, but is convinced that the Red Jackets are ready to turn the trend around.
