ICEHL: Olimpija Ljubljana dispatches the Black Wings Linz!

Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated a goal-scoring home win over Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The Slovenians beat the Upper Austrians 8:4. Nicolai Meyer and Ziga Mehle each collected four scorer points.

Olimpija Ljubljana took back the lead in the table with a confident performance. The Slovenians were already leading 8-1 against the Steinbach Black Wings Linz after 40 minutes and ultimately won 8-4. Mehle, Halbert, Meyer and Brennan made things clear in the first third. When the score was 0:4, Linz goalie Höneckl was replaced by Martin Reder. The home team continued their offensive drive undiminished – Mehle scored shortly before the second period break to make it 8:1. In the final third, 17-year-old goalie Gal Hebar was able to get a taste of ICE air for the first time. The Upper Austrians, who were still in eleventh place, reduced the gap by three goals, but ultimately had to admit defeat.
