He has already played 38 caps, but now Red Bull Salzburg-Defender Philipp Wimmer has to fight for his regular place with his employer.
Philipp Wimmer has been under contract at the EC Red Bull Salzburg since the beginning of his ice hockey career. He celebrated four championship titles with the team during this time, has also been able to call himself a national player since November 11, 2021 and has previously brought it to 38 caps, including two A World Cup participation.
Many injuries repeatedly thrown the 23-year-old back, including lengthy heart muscle inflammation. But the native of Vienna kept fighting back and is already fully in the juice for the new season in which he has to prove himself.
As the “Kronen Zeitung” reports, Wimmer is probably only planned as a seventh defender. Not the claim of a national team player who therefore wants to lay the foundation early: “Summer training is definitely the most important part of the preparation to be in top shape for the season,” said Wimmer, who is already looking forward to the start. On Monday, the officially start of training at the champions, the first test game increases on August 16 against HC Kosice.
