ICEHL: Laibach celebrates home win over Pioneers Vorarlberg

Olimpija Ljubljana defeated Pioneers Vorarlberg in the only Tuesday game of the win2day ICE Hockey League and thus took a big step towards the quarterfinals. The now fifth-placed Slovenes are already 19 points ahead of the seventh-placed Vienna Capitals.



In the only Tuesday game this week, Olimpija Ljubljana beat Pioneers Vorarlberg 5-2 in the home game. The Slovenian hosts controlled the encounter from the start, but were initially unable to overcome Pioneers goalie David Madlener. Despite being numerically inferior, Marcel Mahkovec managed to score in the last minute of the first period. At the beginning of the middle third, Ljubljana made it 2-0 before the Pioneers also scored in the person of Ramon Schnetzer. In the final section, however, the home team stepped up a gear and ultimately won 5-2.
