ICEHL: KAC team players return to training – one is out injured!

Six Red Jackets squad players represented the national teams of Austria and Denmark this week, and they will start training again at the EC-KAC on Tuesday.

The Austrian senior national team, recently named Team of the Year in the red-white-red sports landscape, played its first international matches this week since the successful World Cup in May, and for the fourth time in a row they took part in the Germany Cup, which was held in Landshut.

Clemens Unterweger is out

A total of five EC-KAC players reported to Team Austria’s camp directly from the Red Jackets’ away game at Pioneers Vorarlberg last Sunday, but one of them had to travel home before the first tournament game: Clemens Unterweger sustained a lower body injury during training with the national team and will probably also miss his club’s upcoming league games.

Danes mixed

The Germany Cup 2025 was part of the newly created, season-long European Cup of Nations. Its Group B was also held this week – in Épinal, France – where, in addition to the hosts, Norway and Hungary, Denmark and thus the KAC players Jesper Jensen Aabo (again as captain of his national team) and Mathias From were at the start

U20 cracks are also returning

The six current senior national players of the EC-KAC will all travel back to Klagenfurt on Sunday and will take a break on Monday; they will start training again with the Red Jackets on Tuesday. This is also planned for Filip Simovic and David Waschnig, who were involved with the U20 national team at the four-nation tournament in Stavanger, Norway, this week. The self-made striker missed the final game against Denmark on Saturday due to an injury, but as things stand, the injury will not prevent him from playing in the league games next week.
