ICEHL: KAC starts with a shutout victory for the test game start!

A sovereign and in the second and third section also playfully pleasing appearance of the red jackets culminated on Friday evening in a 3-0 home success against Ljubljana.

The first 20 minutes of the test game brought little spectacular, the first more concrete goal was founded the red jackets: Fabian Hochegger failed from the right Hashmarks on the shoulder of goalie Luka Kolin. In the same minute of the game, Evan Polei moved to the box via Net Drive on the right, but put no conclusion when falling (6th). The Canadian, which was striking in the initial phase, graduated from a “two-on-one” attack from a half-left position too hastily (12th). In the best chance of scoring the start of the start, Sebastian Dahm parried in the tackle against Polei, who was unconditional in the “four-on-two” on the long post, Žiga Mehle poked the rebound past the half-empty box (12th). On the side of the red jackets, Simeon Schwinger set a shot from the left wing just above the short cross corner (19th).

Early in the second section, Hochegger’s cross pass stuck on Fraser in the “two-against-one” cross pass (22nd), but the red jackets took the lead from the next attack: Finn van Ee went through the center with double hooks and put on the left post, from where his first goal in the fighting team and at the same time scored the first KAC goal of the 2025/26 season (23rd). Then the Slovenes came to their first overpowering game, in which Alex Petan put the puck from between the Hashmarks Knapp and flat past the long corner (26th). The Marly Quince, which was completely free in front of the housing, was denied by the well -placed Klagenfurt goalie (27th), who also kept the upper hand against Jaka Sodja (32nd). In the first Klagenfurt overpowering game, a Schlenzer from newcomer Jordan Murray from the left allocation area only detonated on the crossbar (35th). When Ljubljana acted more with a man again, Boychuk put off the center to TJ Brennan from the center, Sebastian Dahm dipped in the sideways movement and parried strongly (37th). Mathias from went steeply over the right wing and shot out of the barrel, the disc hissed just over the linkage (40th).

After a round of Herburger and a fine return pass, a hundred pound onetimer smashed on the schoner Kolins (42.), then Red-Weiß doubled his lead: Simeon Schwinger impressively removed the puck in the Forecheck, staged Petersen and he sent out of the halfblink slot (43.). Klagenfurt stayed on the trigger: Obersteiner narrowly failed with a nice deflection through his own legs, from the high slot only hit the pole (45th each). A direct acceptance of Daniel Obersteiners sailed just over the destination (48th), Simeon Schwinger brought too little pressure on the goal at the goal room after a wonderful combination via Muršak and Petersen (51.). The guests from Slovenia only had a little offensive in the final section, so the third and last goal of the evening also went to the account of the EC-KAC: Matt Fraser fit from the left rounding to David Maier, who hit the 3-0 final score from the slot with the forehand and the lower edge of the crossbar (53.).

Post game comment from Head Coach Kirk Furey:

“Overall, it was a good step and start for our group. The first third was still rather leisurely, we got better in the second third, in the third we further increased. A first test game after hard and intensive training days is always difficult, but our legs were better with the game today and that is a very positive sign. So two days off are highly deserved. “
