ICEHL: KAC head coach Furey struggles with his team’s lack of efficiency

The red jackets made a good away game at EC Salzburg on Sunday afternoon, but in the end the defending champion lost 1: 4.

In a high-class duel in the Eisarena Salzburg, sold out with 3,400 spectators, the Red Bulls used an early chance to lead Lukas Hörl’s first professional goal. Connor Corcoran increased to 2-0 in the power play before the first break. After an intensive second section, the KAC came to 1: 2 in the final third and pressed enormously until Devante Stephens redeemed the Red Bulls and Connor Corcoran made the final score in a class game from both teams with the Empty Net goal.

Head Coach Kirk Furey struggled with efficiency

“We actually started well, but Salzburg pulled the momentum with the first goal. It took a while until we really found the game again, but from the second third we had more emotions in the game, then our appearance fit. We came too much overall to get a much better result, but in the duel of two more fast -fitting teams, the more efficient teams have been playing against. Salzburg stand out on a narrow line between victory and defeat, so it is when two clubs such successful clubs meet in the past. ”

Lukas Hörl from Red Bull Salzburg, naturally, saw the whole thing more positively: “It was a hard fight. Klagenfurt is well marched, we held against it and used our chances ice cold. And we have the Atte Tolvanen at the back, that makes life easier.”
