ICEHL: Is Black Wings goalie Tirronen about to make a comeback?

Rasmus Tirronen had to sit out the last few games due to injury, but the experienced goalkeeper could celebrate his return to the Steinbach Black Wings Linz team next weekend.

Tirronen is currently in his fourth season with the Linzers, his fifth overall in the win2day ICE Hockey League. The 34-year-old Finn has never had a catch rate of less than 90.6% in any season. Things look different this year so far: 3.44 goals conceded on average and a catch rate of “only” 87.3%. The Black Wings still lack the necessary coordination, especially when it comes to defensive work. In the end, this is also noticeable in the goalkeeper statistics.

Tirronen was able to win the start of the season with the Linzers, but then five defeats followed. The left catcher had his last ICE appearance on October 3rd against the KAC. Thomas Höneckl and the young Martin Reder have been in goal for the last two weeks. But that is about to change again.

Conmeback tomorrow already?

As goalie coach Jürgen Penker told the “Upper Austrian newsTirronen could be back between the posts tomorrow: “If everything goes according to plan, he will play on Friday too.” Then the Linz team will be visiting league newcomers Ferencvaros Budapest. The Black Wings have another away game on Sunday at HC Falkensteiner Pustertal. It remains to be seen whether head coach Philipp Lukas can also rely on other recently injured cracks (Luis Lindner, Gerd Kragl and Ken Ograjensek).
