ICEHL: Innsbrucker Haie react to injury and get Swedish strikers!

After a violation of Matt Wilkins, the sharks have to react. The Swede Sebastian Benker joins the team at short notice.

Striker Matt Wilkins suffered an upper body injury last Sunday in the last test game against Landshut and will be out for some time. Those responsible at HC Tiwag Innsbruck have found what they are looking for in a replacement for the Canadian. The Swede Sebastian Benker will temporarily take the Wilkins place.

“We are glad that we could react so quickly, because Matt is an important player for us. I am sure that Sebastian will close the gap created,” said HCI head coach Ryan Kinasewich. Co Florian Pedevilla adds: “Sebastian will help us. He always goes where it hurts, plays very hard in front of the goal. We are happy that he is there.”

The 33-year-old has a lot of experience. Benker played the majority of his career in the hockey halls. Last season he was involved in HC Thurgau in Switzerland and the Danish club Frederikshavn. The 1.90 man will replace Matt Wilkins until his full recovery.

The entire organization of HC Tiwag Innsbruck warmly welcomes Sebastian Benker in the shark pool, and at the same time wishes Matt Wilkins a quick recovery.
