HC TIWAG Innsbruck celebrated a victory after regular playing time for the first time since the season opening weekend and defeated EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV 2-1. After an even start, the Tyroleans took the lead in the first third with a goal from Steven Owre. The HCI top scorer was left alone and scored from close range. A little later Benjamin Corbeil made it 2-0 from a tight angle. In the middle section, Innsbruck remained dominant and created several chances, but were repeatedly denied by VSV goalie Cannata. Only towards the end of the third did VSV get into the game a little better, but did not score a goal. In the final third the guests pressed and shortened the score through Felix Maxa. The Haie then defended with great commitment, even overcoming a four-minute deficit thanks to a strong Matt Vernon in goal and saved their narrow lead over time.
