HC Innsbruck meets VSV today. After the 1:4 against Bozen there should be points for the Haie.
HCI captain Jan Lattner’s joy at being named Man of the Match in the 1:4 win against Bozen was limited. Rather, he mourned the missed opportunities: “I think we played a pretty good game. But we just have to score a goal at 5 against 3. If you leave that behind, you can’t win.” With the score at 0:1 in the middle of the second period, the Haie had a double majority for a minute and a half, but were unable to convert it into goals.
“I am confident that this time we will come off the ice as winners”
Today the iDM heat pumps VSV comes to the TIWAG Arena. The Haie lost their first game of the season against Villach away from home 1:5, and missed opportunities played a role there too. “It was the same in Villach. At 1-1 we also had opportunities in the power play, even at 5 against 3. That has to be better today,” said the captain. Matt Wilkins, who watched the game in Villach from the bench while still injured, also sees it similarly: “The Villach team got the momentum on their side with the successful PK and ultimately won the game. If we manage to show our strengths for 60 minutes today, I am confident that this time we will leave the ice as winners.”
The Adler come to Innsbruck as currently sixth in the table. Yesterday, the Carinthians suffered a narrow 3:4 defeat after overtime against the new league leaders Pustertal. Until a minute before the end, Tray Tuomie’s team was even leading 3:2. The VSV head coach was of course a little disappointed: “It’s a shame, we were close, but we have to take it like that. We have an important game ahead of us in Innsbruck, we definitely want to win it and go home with four points.”
