The Tyrolean derby against the Tyrolean derby starts on Friday HCB South Tyrol Alperia. The Sharks are dying for this duel, so HCI defender Mario Ebner: “Of course, there are inherently more emotions involved in the derby. The squad under neo-coach Kurt Kleinendorst is as strong as usual this season and has a lot of routine. New acquisitions like Cole Schneider (over 800 AHL and 6 NHL games), Brett Pollock (DEL and KHL experienced) and Shane Gersich (in the extended squad of Stanley Cup winners Washington in 2018) have already made an impact and lead the internal scorer rankings.
The Sharks will try to end a streak tomorrow. The last 7 Tyrolean derbies in the league all went to the Foxes. The HCI celebrated its last victory on New Year’s Day 2024 in Bolzano. The final score was 4:2 – the Haie scorers: Rockwood, Green, Mackin and Roy.
The day after the Tyrolean derby, the Haie welcome the Adler from Villach. The Tyroleans have a score to settle with the VSV. Two weeks ago we lost 5-1 in Villach. After two thirds it was 1:1, the Haie failed to capitalize on the numerous power plays in this game.
